there were Hakkas in HK or Taiwan. But where I was raised (Malaysia), there are a lot'a Hakkas & most of 'em speak Hakka in general, though we learn other languages as well. Lee Kuan Yew is Hakka that's right, but not Li Ka-shing, he's Teochew.
I was raised in a multilingual environment, I speak Hakka with my close relatives/neighbors/some friends, English with my mom/sisters/friends/some relatives, Mandarin with my dad/friends, and Cantonese with my friends. We're not assimilated, yet. :)
